I have just started playing Rocket Knight Adventure on Genesis, and now I have the new Rocket Knight on PC. New Rocket Knight is fun. It has some varieties in stages. Although it is easy, it is certainly a very nice game. With decent control and a fast paced gameplay which you have to do suicidal charges with your jetpack. There is a very big difference in the remake which is essential a flaw. The game lacked the feeling of speed in a number of stages due to the use of 3D technology (i know I am using a laptop to play therefore i will feel some lag. Problem is the deadly rocket charge in original game can fly as far as 2-3 screens while in the remake its range is limited to 1/2 screen. It does not affect gameplay overall, it affects the feel of original game however.
Artwork style in the remake differs from its origin since it is by a different group of developers. The remake is more mature in terms of artstyle comparing to the Japanese counterpart which feature more cartoonish characters. (New remake is by a British Group when the 1st Rocket Knight is by Konami in Japan)
The music is less catchy than its Genesis ancestor. It is less catchy and the new songs are not that entertaining since it lacked the charm of chiptune and are quite dull. However, the arranged version of stage 1-1 is a very nice remix of Michiru Yamane's work on Rocket Knight Adventure.
It is a worth buy for those with nostalgia in their mind. It is released on steam and is on sale for 7.5 US dollars (Original Price 15 US dollars).
